Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations are available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. A parking permit is not required; however, the driver is responsible for paying the charging rate. Electric vehicles must use one of the options listed below. Use of charging hardware with unapproved outlets may result in citations
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
All EV charging stations on campus are available to the public. Vehicles do not need a parking permit to access, but must have an active session at the station in use to use the parking reserved for each station. Charging sessions require payment, and vehicles must relocate if their payment session ends to avoid a parking ticket.
The following fee structure applies to all drivers:
- Cost of power
- Current average per-kilowatt-hour and associated costs
- Parking fee
- Visitors and non-parking permit holders must pay the current hourly parking rate
- Campus housing residents and University-affiliated permit owners may be eligible to waive this fee by associating their charging account(s) with their parking account - details below.
- Idle fee
- After a charging session ends for any reason, drivers are given a 45-minute grace period to relocate their EV so others may use the charging station.
- After the 45-minute grace period, an idle fee equal to the current hourly parking rate is added to any other ongoing fees.
Types of Charging Stations
DISCOUNTED CHARGING
Discounted rates are available to residents of University-owned housing and University-affiliated owners of an A, U, or higher-value permit. Users are not eligible for refunds for charging fees that are not discounted. Discount may be revoked at any time eligibility ends and users may need to reapply each semester.
