URide is a great resource for those looking for transportation options during evening hours! University community members may request a free ride to most locations at the U. URide functions similarly to other rideshare programs like Uber or Lyft, but only operates within university boundaries.
This free service is available to the university community. Students, faculty, and staff can request a URide to and from any location on campus.
The URide program is intended to provide rideshare service to members of the university community who need an alternative transportation option. This is not a replacement for public transportation or other rideshare programs.

Since the launch of URide (originally launched as SafeRide) in 2019, passengers have requested rides through the TapRide app. As of 2023, passengers must request a URide through the TransLoc app. Since URide is only available to current students, faculty, and staff members, you must log in through a university account. First, open the app and tap on the ‘Settings’ button located in the bottom-right corner. Tap the ‘Log In’ button, and then tap on the ‘Log in with University Account’ button. Next, select ‘University of Utah’, log in with your uNID and university password and follow the prompted steps. Once you have completed this process, you’ll be able to request a URide. To request a ride, tap on the ‘View OnDemand Service’ button. You’ll be able to select ‘URide’ on Mon-Thurs 6pm-12:30am and Fri-Sun 6pm-1:30am. (Users are only be able to view the ‘URide’ option during operating hours). You may then enter your pick-up and drop-off location.

URide is not an emergency service. Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger. If you are not in immediate danger but need a law enforcement officer call 801-585-COPS for a security escort.
No, URide only operates within the university boundaries, excluding Research Park.
