Commuter Services would like to inform you of an important change to parking in the University of Utah’s Research Park. Beginning October 1, 2025, many of the parking lots and garages in the Park will be integrated with the main campus Commuter Services’ parking permit system. The integration was identified as an Operational Excellence project in 2024. This integration will result in campus-wide efficiencies related to parking management and maintenance, reduce disparity between main campus staff, faculty, students, visitors, and those that work and live in Research Park, and improve parking and transportation data used to make strategic decisions about future parking and transportation projects. All employees, students, and tenants identified in Phase 1 will be required to purchase a parking permit beginning October 1, 2025.
PROJECT TIMELINE
With approval from the University’s senior leadership, this system integration will be introduced in a phased way, over three years. Details of the phased rollout and permit designations are included in the below map.

RESERVED STALL PARKING
Full-time, benefits-eligible employees (0.75 FTE or higher) are now eligible to request a reserved stall in Research Park areas.
Reserved Stall permits may be installed in any available A or U surface lots and garages. For availability and pricing, please visit our Permit Information section at the below link.
Reserved spaces are to be paid for annually. Payroll deduction is available for full-time employees being paid by the University. Payroll deduction payments will roll over each year to the new fiscal year price and will continue until the reserved stall owner requests it to be canceled.
University policy states that departmental funds cannot be used for an employee's reserved stall without the approval and signature from the President of the University when stalls are located on campus. Signatures are required from the Department Chair, the Associate Dean’s Office and the Vice President for the Health Sciences Center when discretionary funds are used. If discretionary funds are used, the employee must pay the A portion of the permit.
Reserved spaces are to be paid for annually.
